A new decision by the Council of Ministers has paved the way for the financial compensation of landowners whose properties have been occupied by legalized constructions. The decision aims to accelerate the legalization process of buildings while simultaneously guaranteeing the protection of property rights for former owners. According to the announcement from the State Cadastre Agency (ASHK), the approved compensation fund amounts to ALL 870,762,086.47, covering a total area of 85,140.35 square meters. The approved decision provides financial compensation for 422 properties affected by legalized constructions over the years. This process is considered an important step toward resolving long-standing property ownership issues. The compensation scheme seeks to balance the interests of legitimate landowners with the need to formalize legalized constructions, offering a legal and financial solution for all parties involved. One of the most significant aspects of this decision is the opportunity for 349 citizens to obtain building plots, completing an important administrative process related to the legalization of buildings. Receiving a building plot provides legal certainty for owners of legalized structures and enables them to fully exercise their property rights. Following the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette, the list of beneficiaries will also be published on ASHK's official platform, "Beneficiaries of Building Plots & Entities Receiving Compensation." Interested citizens will be able to verify online whether they are included among the beneficiaries, both for financial compensation and for the allocation of building plots. The latest decision of the Council of Ministers represents another significant step in the legalization process and the resolution of property-related issues in Albania. Through this compensation fund, the government aims not only to protect the rights of former landowners but also to gradually resolve challenges associated with legalized constructions. The implementation of this decision is expected to bring greater legal certainty, transparency, and stability to property administration in the country.Government allocates over ALL 870 million for compensation of former landowners
